Common issues and solutions for QuasarSpeak.

Audio Issues

Microphone Not Detected

Symptoms: QuasarSpeak doesn't show your microphone in the device list.

Solutions:

  1. Check Windows sound settings — ensure your mic is enabled
  2. Check privacy settings — allow apps to access microphone
  3. Restart QuasarSpeak after connecting a new microphone
  4. Update your audio drivers

Poor Transcription Quality

Symptoms: QuasarSpeak frequently mishears words or produces incorrect text.

Solutions:

  1. Move closer to your microphone (6-12 inches)
  2. Reduce background noise
  3. Try a larger language model (e.g., medium instead of base)
  4. Speak more slowly and clearly
  5. Check microphone levels in Windows settings

High Latency

Symptoms: Long delay between speaking and seeing text.

Solutions:

  1. Use a smaller model (base or small)
  2. Enable GPU acceleration if available
  3. Close other CPU-intensive applications
  4. Check that your antivirus isn't scanning QuasarSpeak

Performance Issues

High CPU Usage

Symptoms: QuasarSpeak uses too much CPU, slowing down your computer.

Solutions:

  1. Use a smaller language model
  2. Increase the silence detection threshold
  3. Enable GPU acceleration (requires NVIDIA GPU with CUDA)
  4. Close unnecessary browser tabs and applications

Out of Memory

Symptoms: QuasarSpeak crashes or Windows shows low memory warnings.

Solutions:

  1. Use a smaller language model
  2. Increase your system's virtual memory
  3. Close other memory-intensive applications
  4. Consider upgrading your RAM

Subscription Issues

Login Failed

Symptoms: "No active subscription found" or validation error when logging in.

Solutions:

  1. Check your internet connection (required for login)
  2. Verify you're using the correct email address
  3. Ensure your subscription is active at quasarspeak.com/account
  4. Check for typos in your email address
  5. Contact support if the issue persists

Offline Grace Period Expired

Symptoms: "Please connect to the internet to verify your subscription" message.

Solutions:

  1. Connect to the internet and restart QuasarSpeak
  2. QuasarSpeak will automatically re-validate your subscription
  3. If you've been offline for more than 14 days, login is required

Subscription Expired

Symptoms: Features are disabled, subscription shown as expired.

Solutions:

  1. Renew your subscription at quasarspeak.com/pricing
  2. Check your payment method is up to date
  3. After renewing, log out and log back in to refresh

Application Issues

QuasarSpeak Won't Start

Symptoms: Application doesn't open or crashes immediately.

Solutions:

  1. Check if QuasarSpeak is already running in the system tray
  2. Run as Administrator
  3. Check Windows Event Viewer for error details
  4. Reinstall QuasarSpeak
  5. Update your graphics drivers
  6. Disable antivirus temporarily to test

Overlay Not Visible

Symptoms: Continuous mode is enabled but overlay doesn't appear.

Solutions:

  1. Check if the overlay is on another monitor
  2. Reset overlay position in Settings
  3. Verify continuous mode is enabled
  4. Restart QuasarSpeak

Text Not Appearing in Application

Symptoms: Dictation works but text doesn't appear in the target app.

Solutions:

  1. Ensure the target application is focused
  2. Some applications block simulated keyboard input
  3. Try a different application to confirm QuasarSpeak is working
  4. Run QuasarSpeak as Administrator
