Quick Start
Get started with QuasarSpeak in just 5 minutes.
Step 1: Launch QuasarSpeak
Start QuasarSpeak from the Start menu or desktop shortcut. The app will appear in your system tray.
Step 2: Choose a Language Model
On first launch, you'll be prompted to download a language model:

Recommendation: Start with base or small for testing, upgrade to medium for daily use.
Step 3: Log In to Your Account
If you have a QuasarSpeak subscription:
- Right-click the QuasarSpeak icon in the system tray
- Select Settings
- Enter the email address associated with your subscription
- Click Log In
QuasarSpeak will validate your subscription and enable all features.
Note: An internet connection is required for the initial login and periodic validation (every 7 days). Between validations, QuasarSpeak works fully offline with a 14-day grace period.
Step 4: Start Dictating
Block Mode (Push-to-Talk)
- Hold the global hotkey (default:
Ctrl+Alt+Space) - Speak naturally
- Release the hotkey
- Your text appears at your cursor position
Continuous Mode
- Enable continuous mode in Settings
- Hold the hotkey to start
- See real-time transcription in the overlay
- Release to confirm and insert text

Tips for Best Results
- Use a good microphone: A dedicated mic beats laptop speakers
- Speak clearly: Natural pace, clear pronunciation
- Minimize background noise: Close windows, mute notifications
- Position your mic correctly: 6-12 inches from your mouth
