Installation

This guide walks you through installing QuasarSpeak on your Windows computer.

Prerequisites

Before installing QuasarSpeak, ensure your system meets these requirements:

  • Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
  • 8 GB RAM minimum (16 GB recommended)
  • 2 GB free disk space (plus 1-6 GB per language model)
  • CPU with AVX support (most CPUs from 2011 onwards)

Download

  1. Visit the Download page
  2. Download the installer
  3. Save the installer to your computer

Installation Steps

Step 1: Run the Installer

Double-click the downloaded .exe file to start the installation.

Note: You may see a Windows SmartScreen warning. This is normal for new software. Click "More info" then "Run anyway" to proceed.

Step 2: Follow the Wizard

  1. Accept the license agreement
  2. Choose an installation location (default is recommended)
  3. Select whether to create a desktop shortcut
  4. Click Install

Step 3: Complete Setup

The installer will:

  • Copy program files
  • Register the application
  • Create Start menu shortcuts
  • Optionally create a desktop shortcut

Click Finish when complete.

First Run

When you launch QuasarSpeak for the first time:

  1. Log in with your email: Enter the email address associated with your subscription
  2. Select a language model: Choose from available models (base, small, medium, large)
  3. Download the model: This requires an internet connection (one-time only)
  4. Configure audio input: Select your microphone

Portable Installation

If you prefer not to install, use the portable version:

  1. Download the portable ZIP file
  2. Extract to any folder
  3. Run QuasarSpeak.exe

The portable version stores all data in the same folder, making it easy to move between computers.

Troubleshooting Installation

SmartScreen Warning

Windows SmartScreen may warn about the installer because it's relatively new. This is not a security concern:

  1. Click "More info" on the warning dialog
  2. Click "Run anyway"
  3. Proceed with installation

Antivirus Interference

Some antivirus software may flag the installer. If this happens:

  1. Temporarily disable real-time protection
  2. Run the installer
  3. Re-enable protection
  4. Add QuasarSpeak to your antivirus exceptions

Installation Fails

If installation fails:

  1. Run the installer as Administrator
  2. Ensure you have enough disk space
  3. Check that no previous installation is corrupted
  4. Download a fresh copy of the installer

Uninstallation

To remove QuasarSpeak:

  1. Open Windows Settings > Apps
  2. Find "QuasarSpeak" in the list
  3. Click Uninstall
  4. Follow the prompts

Or use the uninstaller in the Start menu under QuasarSpeak.
